Something Yoga is a yoga studio steeped in the tradition of ISHTA. ISHTA is an acronym that stands for the Integrated Sciences of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda. The Sanskrit work ishta means "individual," or "personalized." We feel that everyone who practices yoga needs an individual daily practice that enables one to take care of his or her self.

ISHTA was originally developed by Mani and Alan Finger. ISHTA embraces elements from a variety of styles and seeks to help students discover the exact blend of postures, breathing, and meditation techniques necessary to bring about their fullest potential.

At "Something Yoga" we offer a wide assortment of classes that are accessible to students of all ages and all levels. Patsy Finger founded the school four years ago. She is the daughter-in-law of celebrated Master Yogi (Yogiraj) Mani Finger. Mani was the first teacher to bring this style of yoga based on the teachings on a long lineage of sages from the Himalayas via South Africa to the United States.

At Something Yoga you will learn about Asana (postures), Pranayama (Breath), Meditation, Mantra and Mudra. The style is taught in a comfortable relaxed atmosphere where individual needs are met and honored. You do not have to be an athlete to perform this yoga. It attempts to harmonize the body and the mind and to return wholeness where there is disconnection or discomfort.

Shortly after launching Something Yoga, Patsy met Tracy Chamoun who joined her as her partner. Tracy was taught and initiated into the same tradition by Rod Stryker who was both Mani Finger and Alan Finger’s star student and was the only student in the United States who also accredited with the title of Yogiraj (Master Yogi).

Together Patsy and Tracy strive to make the studio a dynamic and safe sanctuary for all its students. The essence of the studio has evolved from teaching yoga to becoming a center for healing, inner growth, and personal transformation. It offers a selection of holistic services that enhance the effects and benefits of the yoga practice.

These services range from traditional massage to energy work, sound work, crystal healing and colonic hydrotherapy. Both Patsy and Tracy are certified energy workers and healers they have been initiated into the sacred Cherokee teachings and the use of crystals by their adopted spiritual Grandmother Adaasti Gadahi. Grandmother Jean as she is best known, visits the studio regularly and brings with her the gifts of her people and their technique of spiritual cleansing and other sacred healing practices.

The philosophy of the studio is to provide an integrated approach to health. It is an approach that reaches far beyond the visible dimension of the physical body to the subtle realms of the soul and the spirit. The majority of our staff is trained in body work, herbalism, Polarity Therapy, Crystal healing, and alternative lifestyle coaching embracing both sustainable teachings and the use of organic foods and products. Our facial care services for example offer one of the purest ranges of products on the market today and our understanding of beauty extends from the internal to the external.

Our mission statement is: To be true to our complexity, to recognize the divine in all things and to embrace oneness through the diversity of our teachings. That is why we are Something Yoga.

We hope that you will come and visit us, enjoy our teachers and therapists, participate in our enlightening workshops and events, do a little shopping therapy for metaphysical gifts and goodies
in our yoga bazaar, and above
all have fun and relax at the studio.
