Yoga is a science, not a religion.
It dates back 5000 years, and the insights from those ancient
days continue to amaze modern scientists who, with the aid
of sophisticated technology, are just now discovering many
of the same subtleties of human existence that yogis have
known for years. The focus of yoga is to connect and relate
to the universe around us. If the pressures of today's world
leaves you feeling frazzled and out of sorts, practicing
the science of yoga can help you feel whole again. Yoga's
techniques address physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual
conflicts.
This system of self-discovery has survived
the passage of time and you too will feel the many benefits
when you become involved with yoga.
What is ISHTA yoga?
ISHTA is an acronym that stands for the Integrated
Sciences of Hatha, Tantra, and Ayurveda. The Sanskrit work
ishta means "individual," or "personalized." We
feel that everyone who practices yoga needs an individual
daily practice that enables one to take care of his or her
self. ISHTA was developed originally by Mani and Alan Finger
in their native South Africa. ISHTA embraces elements from
a variety of styles, such as the well-known systems of Ashtanga
and lyengar and seeks to help it's students discover the
exact blend of postures, breathing, and meditation techniques
necessary to bring about their fullest potential. At "Something
Yoga", we believe in the principles of ISHTA, which
is why we offer such a wide assortment of classes. Whatever
style inspires you, follow it. Initiate your spirit and discover
that it is all...Something Yoga. *For more info read "Introduction
to Yoga...A Beginner's Guide to Health, Fitness, and Relaxation" by
